Marco Bellini studied agricultural economics at the University of Bologna before completing a master's degree in environmental journalism in Rome. He has spent his career writing at the intersection of food culture and food science — a pairing that comes naturally in Italy, where the question of how food is grown is inseparable from the question of how it tastes. At Discovia, Marco covers sustainable food systems, food waste reduction technologies, alternative proteins, and the research transforming Mediterranean agriculture in the face of increasingly hot and dry growing seasons. He brings warmth, curiosity, and a genuine love of food to subjects that other journalists treat as purely technical. He is based in Rome and writes occasionally in Italian for domestic publications.
