1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”, “you”, or “your”) and Discovia (“Discovia”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) governing your use of the website located at thediscovia.com and all associated content, features, and services (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing or using any part of the Service — including reading articles, creating an account, posting comments, or subscribing to our newsletter — you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. About Discovia

Discovia is an international science discovery magazine dedicated to identifying the world's most important emerging discoveries and transforming them into clear, compelling stories for intellectually curious readers. Our editorial team covers five primary areas: Health & Body, Clean Energy, Food & Agriculture, AI & Computing, and Materials & Manufacturing.

Discovia publishes original editorial content. Our articles represent journalistic interpretation and narrative presentation of information drawn from the public domain of scientific knowledge. They are intended for general informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute professional, medical, legal, financial, or technical advice of any kind.

3. Eligibility

The Service is intended for users who are at least 16 years of age. By accessing or using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 16 years of age or older. If you are under 16, you may not use the Service without verifiable parental consent. We reserve the right to terminate any account we reasonably believe to be in violation of this requirement.

The Service is available globally. It is your responsibility to ensure that your use of the Service complies with all local laws and regulations applicable in your jurisdiction.

4. Content & Editorial Standards

All articles, editorials, images, graphics, and other materials published on Discovia (“Content”) are produced by our editorial team and subject to our internal editorial standards. We strive for accuracy, clarity, and fairness in all Content. However, science is a constantly evolving field, and we cannot guarantee that all Content reflects the most current state of research at any given moment.

Discovia articles are works of science journalism. They represent our editorial interpretation of publicly available information and should not be treated as authoritative statements of scientific fact. Readers are encouraged to consult primary sources, qualified professionals, and peer-reviewed literature when making decisions based on any subject matter discussed in our Content.

We reserve the right to update, correct, or remove any Content at any time without prior notice, and to add editorial notes to articles where corrections or updates are warranted.

5. Intellectual Property

All Content published on Discovia, including but not limited to articles, headlines, excerpts, photographs, illustrations, graphics, logos, and the Discovia name and brand, is the exclusive property of Discovia or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Personal use. You may read, share, and link to Discovia Content for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided that you attribute Discovia as the source with a direct hyperlink to the original article. Brief quotations for commentary, criticism, or educational purposes are permitted under applicable fair use or fair dealing principles.

Prohibited uses. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, transmit, sell, create derivative works from, or otherwise exploit any Discovia Content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission. Systematic scraping, automated harvesting, or bulk downloading of Content is expressly prohibited.

Third-party rights. Discovia articles may reference or discuss discoveries, inventions, or research that is subject to third-party intellectual property rights, including patents. Discovia does not assert any ownership over such third-party intellectual property, and nothing in our Content constitutes a grant of licence to use any third-party intellectual property.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Discovia does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of any Content. Any reliance you place on Content is strictly at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DISCOVIA, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE OR ANY CONTENT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF REVENUE, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL.

IN NO EVENT SHALL DISCOVIA'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO DISCOVIA IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED EUROS (€100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain types of damages. If you are in such a jurisdiction, the above exclusions and limitations may not apply to you to the extent required by applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Discovia, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) any Submission you provide; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, with or without notice, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at hello@thediscovia.com. Sections 5, 9, 10, 11, and 15 of these Terms shall survive any termination.

We may revise and update these Terms from time to time at our sole discretion. All changes are effective immediately when we post them. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by email to registered users. 15. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in England for the resolution of any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service.
