About
Dr. Yuki Tanaka holds a doctorate in cellular biology from UCSF and spent five years researching the molecular mechanisms of ageing before the stories she was uncovering felt too important to keep inside academic journals. Born in Osaka and raised in San Francisco, she brings a bicultural lens to science that is increasingly shaped by research from both the United States and East Asia. At Discovia, Yuki covers longevity biology, senolytics, stem cell therapies, and the rapidly expanding science of regenerative medicine. She is particularly interested in the gap between what research shows is possible and what actually reaches patients — and she writes to close it. She is based in San Francisco and is a regular speaker at ageing science conferences.
